| halicat | i don't think my kat has ever seen armorall, the finnish on the dash is flat and looks good but i'm so tempted to put the armorall to it the way i have with all my other vehicles. would this be a misteak ? should i leave it alone and just keep it clean ? |

we just recently bought a 2001 with the same, flat and matte dash - never seen Armor all so the first thing I did was to give it a real good treatment of "AA" and looky now - looks REAL nice again !DUSTI |

| GRROWL | Let's try to distill the "Wisdom of the Internet". The "NEW" (water-based) Armor-All is well-regarded (vs. the old one that was greasier). The "Ultimate", especially for UV protection, seems to be 303 Aerospace Protectant. Also recommended for leather. Basically, use it for your entire interior except carpet (303 High Tech Fabric Guard is used for that, as well as being a preferred product for soft-top maintenance). I just picked up a gallon of Meguiar's Hyper Dressing, which is their new waterbased formula that can be diluted from 1:1 to 4:1 so you can control the gloss. | bbcar | 3M now make a vynal protectant that leaves more of a semi-gloss shine rather than the wet shine you get from AA, I like the 3M as it gives the dash more of a new look.

| pumpkin | We have used a lot of products but stayed away from armorall. In New Mexico our sun is real hot ,the dash takes a beating and we get a glare from the dash on to the windshield. We went with a dash mat and no more problems. Less than $40. We went to the dealer.Here are the pic,even got pumpkin logo on it. http://www.zianet.com/SLlover/page60a28.html

| Bob Goetz | My 2 cents, I use Mothers Preserves, this stuff leaves a matte to gloss finish, is not oily, you can use it on the interior and on your wheels and engine compartment. On the tires spray it on wipe it off, let it dry about 5 minutes and you can throw sand at the tire and it will not stick, if you get over spray on the rim again let it dry 5 minutes and just wipe it off. On the engine I take a air hose on a cold motor spray all the dust and dirt out then spray the Mothers on and take the air hose and spray down on the motor pushing the Mothers all over then fire it up and bake it on. Nice and shiny and dirt don't stick. ------------------

| halicat | great advice ... i was concerned about the glare and was going to try the AA satin finish... must admit the mothers sounds good.... i don't think the 303 aerospace is avail here in atlantic canada...If its not at canadian tire, then i probably won't be able to find it..sorry about all the questions.. i feel like i'm back in school |
| idive | 303 protectant can be ordered online. http://www.303products.com/main.php You aren't likely to find it at a tire store. Most boating supply stores will have it. Just call around first to save a wasted trip.
When I got my Prowler, I called my uncle for some advise on care. (He's raced and collected cars since '55.) One thing he was adamant about... he said, "DO NOT USE ARMORALL ON ANYTHING ON THE CAR!" I didn't ask why. I just said, "Ok". I just figured he had good reason for being so firm on that issue. I use 303. If you decide to go with 303, and can't round any up, either myself, or someone else (I'm sure) will get some to you. |

| PROWLER-KEITH | Well paint shops that do high end work don't even want the stuff in their yard let alone on the vehicle, over sray from doing the tires, dash, door panels ect if not told you have used it and them not realizing it can cause a world of hell with any paint repairs, fisheye is one big problem it's the silicon base if I remember correctly in it. Ed is correct but no one seems to be picking up on it. The Top of the dash is metal made to look like leather or vinyl. So I hope we discussiong the bottom front portion of the dash. |

| MDProwler | My dash top is one big piece of plastic. I have started using 'Trim Shine' by Stoner. It is available at Pep Boys and makes the rear bumpers look wet and absolutley works great under the hood. I use it for my trucks to detail the outside black plastic parts. It sprays on (aerosal) finer than spray paint and deosn't effect surrounding painted surfaces. I can spray the tires after shining the rims and the overspray just disappears.
I usaully AA the interior doors and dash once a year and use leather cleaner and conditioner on the seats and sterring wheel several times a year. GROWLL, I'll bring a can to Dulles ------------------

| CWatsonJr | Use ProtectAll instead of Armorall. You can use it on every surface, inside and out (including the paint - which by the way is a great way to detail the car after you wash it) and it leaves everything nice, clean and protected. You can find it at Wal-Mart in the Camper section or at Camperworld. Great Stuff ------------------

| catfish | top of dash is plastic,im speaking of the removeable part which is the top,the front vertical part,is a vinyl covered plastic.the dash mainframe,that you can t see is magnesium.
dont know why people think the top is metal,its not.note----
if your working on something in your dash,and have removed the top panel,be very careful,the frt.padded vinyl part is extremely prone to crack on the back side of the padded vinyl and is made out of some funky plastic,that i have never seen before.if you just slighty pull or put pressure on the padde vinyl part,the back will crack,and you will see where the crack is from the frt.side.the padded part is very fragile.303 aerospace protectant on everything,inc,tires.303 fabric guard on top and carpet. ------------------
